Innovation On The Reef
This is the newest and most technologically advanced pontoon on the Great Barrier Reef. Launched in April 2022, at over 1003sqm (45.6m L x 12m W), three levels and has a capacity for over 450 guests. With 18 solar panels and 3 wind turbines, she is powered using sustainable energy.
Description
Sail Structures collaborated in the design of the tensile membrane and shade structures with the Client (Experience Co. Ltd.), Naval Architect (G.A. Glanville & Co.), and Engineer/Builder (English Engineering). We were then engaged to pattern, fabricate and install the fabric and tensioning systems on second level of the pontoon, comprising 4 x tensile membranes (222m2 total) covering main awning structure; 2 x tensile membranes covering the lifeguard towers (18m2), and 2 x Shade Sails (71m2).
